Entry Eligibility

  1. Participants must be: Singapore citizens, Singapore Permanent Residents, or Valid work pass holders, student pass holders, or long-term visit pass holders residing in Singapore.
  2. Open to all ages and ethnicities.
  3. There is no limit on the number of entries, but all submissions must be original and unpublished.

Shortlisted finalists will take the stage at the Chinatown Chinese New Year Festival on 1 February 2026, where all award winners, including the Grand Prize will be announced. Please refer to details of the Finale below.

  1. Submission period: From 22 November 2025 to 11 January 2026, before 11:59 PM
  2. All entries must be submitted via the official contest website www.VoicesofSpring.com. Submission documents required:
    1. Participant(s)'s information & contact details (name in Chinese and English, Gender, Date of Birth, Email, Telephone Number)
    2. For your entry, please package the following materials and provide a link:
      1. Song recording (demo) in .mp3 format (uploaded into your google drive or dropbox link)
      2. Lyric sheet in .doc format (uploaded in the same google drive or dropbox link)
      3.  Music Video (optional) in in .mp4 or mov format (uploaded in the same google drive or dropbox link)
  3. Please prepare the above materials and submit your registration here. Entries submitted through other channels will not be accepted.

“Voices of Spring” – Dialect CNY Songwriting Challenge 2026

Submit Your Work
  1. All submissions must be original, unpublished works, including both melody and lyrics, and submitted as a complete demo. Lyrics must include phrases or lines in at least one of Singapore's five major dialects: Hokkien, Teochew, Cantonese, Hakka, or Hainanese
  2. Entries must contain at least 50% dialect lyrics (mixed dialects or other languages are allowed). Participants must indicate the primary dialect used in the contest form.
  3. Songs that have been officially released on physical albums or uploaded to any digital music platforms (e.g., Apple Music, Spotify, KKBOX, QQ Music, etc.) are not eligible. If your song has been uploaded to social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, TikTok) or sharing platforms (e.g., YouTube, SoundCloud), please indicate this clearly in the submission form and include the link for the organisers' consideration. The Organiser's decision is final and shall not be challenged.
  4. Participants may submit works that were previously sent to other songwriting competitions but were not selected and have never been officially published. Such cases must be clearly declared in the submission form for the organisers to review and determine eligibility. The Organiser's decision is final and shall not be challenged.
  5. Submitting a music video is optional and not a requirement for contest entry. Videos may be filmed vertically or horizontally, but must be of original creation. Entries that use someone else's video footage will not be accepted. All submitted music videos will automatically be judged under the “Music Video” category.
  6. Works found to be plagiarised or in violation of contest rules will be disqualified. Participants are solely responsible for any legal disputes arising from their submissions.
  7. If your work includes AI-generated elements, you must clearly disclose this in the contest entry form. Failure to do so may result in disqualification.
  8. Entries must not contain inappropriate, vulgar, obscene, hateful, defamatory, profane, or offensive content. Submissions must also not include discriminatory or harmful content targeted at any group or individual based on race, gender, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, age, or any other protected characteristic.

Other Important Matters

  1. By submitting your entry, you grant the organiser the perpetual full rights to exercise the following permissions across all platforms: reproduction, exhibition, adaptation, distribution, broadcast, public performance, and creation of derivative works. Participants must complete the copyright release form prior to public performances (those under 18 must have parental consent).
  2. All information submitted must be accurate and complete. The organiser reserves the right to verify any entry or participant details and disqualify entries that do not comply with the contest rules.
  3. The judging panel will consist of distinguished professionals in the culture, music and media industries. The judges’ decisions are final and binding.
  4. The organiser reserves the right to amend these rules and regulations at any time.
  5. Personal Data Protection (PDPA) Personal data collected — including but not limited to name, age, address, contact number, and email address — will be used solely for the purposes of the "Voices of Spring" — Dialect CNY Songwriting Contest 2026.
  6. No data will be disclosed to third parties without the participant's consent. If consent is given for third-party use, the third party's privacy policy will apply, and the organiser bears no further responsibility for the handling of such data.
  7. The organiser reserves the right to amend the contest rules and regulations at any time and shall communicate the amendments to the participants in a timely manner.

  1. All shortlisted finalists/teams will be invited to perform live on the Voices of Spring 2026 Grand Finale. 
  2. The Grand Finale is tentatively scheduled for 1 February 2026. Details will be communicated directly to all finalists and teams by the organisers.
  3. Finalists/teams may perform using a minus-one backing track or with a live band (TBC). All performance-related costs (including additional instruments or musicians) must be covered by the participants.
  4. All finalists/teams agree to participate in promotional and publicity activities organised by the Organiser, including but not limited to filming, photography, and interviews. By entering the Finals, participants irrevocably grant the Organiser and its partners the right to record, edit, translate, adapt, reproduce, publish, distribute, and otherwise use such materials, in whole or in part, across all platforms and media formats, for any promotional or related purposes without remuneration.
  5. Not participating in the live Finals performance will be considered as a withdrawal from the competition.
  6. The organiser reserves the right to amend, decide, or withdraw any finalist's eligibility at its discretion, and its decision shall not be challenged.
