Introduction

Purpose

Sing Our Dialect, Celebrate Our Roots; Our Spring Story Begins Here..

Hi There!

Welcome to Singapore's first-ever songwriting competition dedicated to creating new Chinese New Year songs in Chinese dialects.

Bring your fresh take to any of our major local dialects — Hokkien, Cantonese, Teochew, Hakka, or Hainanese — and show how culture and creativity can spark in a brand-new song.

It can be traditional, it can be funky. Your talent, your take!
If you can create a dialect song that celebrates Chinese New Year, we want to hear it!

Finalists stand a chance to win cash and prizes worth $50,000!

Let’s celebrate Singapore with dialects, and share the warmth of culture through music.

The Heart behind this Contest

Our wish is to preserve, celebrate and rejuvenate Singapore's diverse dialect heritage, through music.

We believe that culture flourishes when it grows with the times, and when young people are given meaningful opportunities to participate.
By encouraging creators to compose original lyrics and melodies in five (5) dialects only, namely: Hokkien, Cantonese, Teochew, Hakka and Hainanese, the contest seeks to achieve the following:

Preserve Cultural Roots

Promote and safeguard the rich dialect heritage of Singapore, presenting it in refreshing and contemporary ways to captivate audiences of all ages.

Inspire Creative Expression

Provide a platform for local music lovers to showcase their talent—welcoming both Singaporeans and new immigrants who share a passion for dialect culture.

Bridge Generations

Use music as a medium to connect younger audiences with dialect traditions, allowing familiar languages and melodies to find new resonance in modern life.

Enrich Singapore’s Cultural Landscape

Support the growth of a diverse and vibrant music ecosystem, strengthening our cultural foundation through collaboration and creative energy.

Through this contest, we hope to engage more youths in clan and community organisations, and to inject fresh voices into the preservation of dialect heritage.
